It is with great pleasure that Black Rock Yacht Club will hold the World OK Dinghy Championships across the 2014/15 Christmas period.
Black Rock expects to welcome OK Dinghy Sailors from all over the world for this event, as they make the long journey to Australia to compete on the fantastic sailing waters of Port Phillip Bay.
The OK class has a great history at BRYC, sailors from BRYC have won 4 World Championships, and 30+ National Championships.

Why Come to the OK Worlds in Melbourne
Black Rock Yacht Club is a premier yacht club located on Port Phillip Bay, Melbourne. Black Rock and surrounding clubs on Port Phillip bay have produced multiple Olympic and World champions, inlcuding multiple world champions in the OK Dignhy class.
The Bay is renowned for strong consistent breezes around the 15 to 20 knot mark accompanied by fine summer weather across the Christmas period. For those located in the UK and Europe what better way to spend winter than at the OK Worlds.
Once In Melbourne
The club is locates 25 minutes from Melbourne city, the second biggest city in Australia and home to such events as the Australian Open tennis tournament and the Australian F1 GP. Melbourne is a strong cosmopolitan city with a bredth of shopping, nightlife and associated activiites. It is well know as the Australian city with good coffee, fashion and food, including multiple 1,2 and 3 hat restaurants less than 20 minutes away.
Black Rock is also well catered for with multiple dinning areas inlcuding a micro brewery 1.2km from the club, in the heart of Black Rock. 10 minutes up the road is St Kilda which has a vibrant restuarant culture and weekly markets.
Two major shopping centres are located near by, both with over 100 outlest and all major departments stores represented. Travellers will not have to go far to grab a bargain.
50 minutes from Black Rock is the Morningnton Penuinsula which offers countless wineris, surf and bay beaches, local produce, horse back riding, japanese hot springs and countless other actvities a short drive from the club.
For those happy to travel a little further attraction such as Torquay and the world famous Bells beach are located 90 minutes from the club. Access is via 2 to 3 lane highways for the majority of the journey and the trip opens up countless further opportunitines to explore around the Geelong district and the great ocean road.
To the North (70 minutes) is the Yarra Valley district with world class wineries and restraunt. Close by is the district of Hepburn which offers Natural Springs, Spa and relaxation retreats to appease even the most tired sailor.
Australia is a large country with a diverse population and attractions across the country. For thise from overseas, once the regatta has finished, make the most of the opportunity to explore one of the most amazing continest on earth.
